The Rural Poor - Challenges of Life in Honduras

The Rural Poor - Challenges of Life in Honduras
By L. Winslow

The people in Honduras are amongst the most impoverished of all of South and Central America. Those that live in numeral areas in the mountains have very important needs if they cannot fulfill and they need our help. Amongst the most important needs are medical needs, education needs and help with agriculture.

Unfortunately getting the help in to the mountainous and rugged terrain of the interior of Honduras is not an easy task. The road conditions are not the best and certain times of the year they are washed out. During hurricane season often huge storms will drop torrential rain for several days causing;

Disasters Floods Landslides As if the hurricanes, volcanoes and Earthquakes were not enough. To top all that off the people in world Honduras have to worry about parasites in the water, Diseases and an HIV Crisis. Even though many Americans volunteered each year to help still more aid and volunteers are needed and are extreme Difficulties of Getting AID In.

Without the Assistance from North America many of the rural poor would be doomed. Luckily there are groups of Doctors and Medical Missions, which volunteered each year to go and assist. The Rotary Club and Other Organizations and nonprofits have been a tremendous help. The United States government has also done its part with UNICEF and US AID providing much-needed monies.

The bulk of the help really does come from the Religious Organizations and volunteers and two-day Honduras is nothing short of Success in Action and Humanity at Its Finest. The online think tank has written a book because More Volunteers Needed in Honduras in this book is online available for free; http://www.worldthinktank.net/pdfs/Honduras.pdf .

L. Winslow is an Economic Advisor to the Online Think Tank, a Futurist and retired entrepreneur. Currently he is planning a bicycle ride across the US to raise money for charity and is sponsored by http://www.Calling-Plans.com and all the proceeds will go to various charities who sign up.
