Volunteers to Central America/ Honduras

Must Understand they are Visiting a Third World Country

Volunteers to Central America Must Understand they are Visiting a Third World Country
By L. Winslow

Each and every year volunteers go to Central America to help the poor in countries like Costa coaster Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize. Before going to these countries volunteers need to remember that they are going to a Third World country and things are not the same is in the United States.

Therefore preparation is very important and it makes sense to go in a big group for security and safety. Travel awareness and access is extremely important as well and you ought to study up on some of the recommendations from the US State Department and talk to other travelers who have been there and done this before. It is best to go with organized groups.

Once a volunteer enters the country they should expect only basic living conditions and they should be aware of the common misconceptions of these countries before they go. Should you volunteer? If you have never been to another country to help it makes sense to go and understand how the rest of the world lives.

What is Really Needed in Future Sustainability

In places like Honduras they need assistance with Agriculture. They also need help with Safety and Security in their nation. The population needs better education and health upgrades. They need more power plants and alternative energy sources such as;

Solar Power Geothermal Biowaste Hydro Communication is also a big issue and they need better Internet Access in the schools need computers. Planning for the future will not be easy. Although a lot is being done by many different groups a clearinghouse for donated materials is needed and a list of volunteers and their skills and expertise.

These nations need help with simple and inexpensive technologies and they need companies to donate items and technology that have solutions. There are many referenced and cited works and research reports which have been done that indicate that the nonprofit religious missions to Honduras are making a huge difference. But still more is needed.

If you would like to know Where You Can Volunteer, Donate or Send Money to Help perhaps you should read the free e-book online - How You Can Help in Honduras;
